Old Business

  • Regional Meeting recap
  • Natalie and Grace were Demo riders. Pictures can be found on the NCPR web site.
  • The Regional Administrative fee is going up next year, to $100.
  • National is moving toward the use of credit cards. Clubs may want to check into using this form of payment.
  • A manuals have been updated from the ones we have, but are not yet available. Keep your upper level books- it may be a year until they are published!
  • There will be a new HM rulebook in 2014. There are some surprising changes, for example chains will no longer required for buckets in the stalls.
  • This summer, TET rally (July 11-12) is back to back with D rally (July 13-14) at Dunham Woods, IL. Andrew Marsh will be chief HM judge for Tet.
  • Diana will be running steward for TET rally, which consists of jumping, swimming, running, shooting. (FYI: Only the jumping is on horseback.) Her daughters Natalie and Grace are looking forward to participating. If Maija or Eva participate as well, we could have a D3 TET team!
  • If you want to go to a rally in another region to qualify for champs you must inform Gerry.
  • If you apply for Upper level rating after the deadline for this, it must be approved by the RS/DC.
  • Regionally, our members test well compared to national averages. We have 100% passage when members test, except for As. However, none of “our” A’s passed this past year. Only 7 did in the country!
  • The Junior Board is looking into having a C camp.
  • The minutes of the regional meeting won’t be approved until October.

March Mounted Meeting:

We had a mounted meeting on March 24 at Wind’s Reach. Maija Luttinger, Taylor, Michael, Taylor Oxley, Alex and Rachel, and Eva attended. Thank you Susan and Bill!

New Business

  • There will be a regional HMO (Horse Management) meeting Aug 17th, hosted by Gerry. D3s and above and all parents are invited to attend.
    • For Sponsors, Bridget will cover Curriculum selections and education.
    • Bridget will also instruct the members in how to teach, since they have responsibilities for teaching younger members. Kristy Votoupal (HMO) plans to cover some topics in HM with parents and members.
  • We will plan to have an audit this summer – maybe on August 17th (same date as the meeting above, to minimize trips for the auditor). Auditing is ideally supposed to be 2013.
  • At the time of this meeting, sponsors of TRPC (Gerry and possibly Dianna) planned to attend an Open House on April 13th @Wulf Run Stables 1-3. John Staples (PC B grad) was giving a clinic there the same weekend. Annie wants to start a PC in Davenport. At present her plan is to have some of her students join TR, and then to split off to form a new club when there is sufficient membership from the Davenport area to support this.
  • The April 21 Mounted Meeting was cancelled. Instead, on April 27th we will have a Games Demo by SBPC – 1:30-5, and this will count as our mounted meeting. Clubbers who want can tack up their horses and participate. But you are welcome to walk through the game on foot if you prefer. There will be pizza!

Spring Certifications

  • We are breaking up the certifications: originally all the D1, D2, and D3 ratings were scheduled for the same day. Instead, we decided that certification of our four D3s (Natalie, Grace, Maija and Eva) will be May 4th. Eva will certify for D2 the same day.
  • Certification of the D1s will be done on May 11th in the afternoon. Bill will certify the Marshes and Taylor will certify the Coesters and Anna. In the morning the more advanced riders will attend schooling at Catalpa, while the D1’s may watch. In the afternoon, the D3’s and Taylor will help out in the D1 certifications at Wind’s Reach.
  • We set the date of April 18 for Taylor Oxley to certify Eva for D1. (This went smoothly, thank you Taylor! Congratulations, Eva!).
  • Susan expressed some concern about the safety of ratings occurring so early in May. D2 and D3 need to ride and jump outside, but the horses may not have been outside enough before the testing.

Summer Camp Updates

  • We now have 19 campers signed up, although we still need checks from a few of them. To accommodate this many campers, we increased the number of instructors. We now have 3 VI’s confirmed. Partly as a result of this, we have revised our budget for the camp. Revised budget is $3525; Net loss anticipated is $725.
  • Due to the large number of campers, it was decided that housing should be at Gerry’s again. The Marshes are thanked for their generous offer of housing, but this many campers seemed like too much of an imposition.
  • We will need 2 parents at each meal for preparation and cleaning, and two parents sleeping in the barn each night.
  • Transportation will not be a problem, because so many have vans and SUVs. Since Gerry can take 7 and Dianna 6, one large van or SUV in addition will be sufficient. Gerry asked that there always be a “free” (3rd) adult around in case of emergencies.

Champs

  • We voted to contribute half of the registration for Champs participants since the Region is paying the other half.
  • Dana is sending a thank you note to Susan Bringham on our behalf for a $200 donation she made towards the Silent Auction the Region held to help pay for their share of Championships.
